THREE YEARS LATER...

In an old Soviet building in St Petersburg, an important meeting was taking place. This was the headquarters of the Russian Administration of Sciences.

“Our first special agent infiltration in America, has been a success,” a man in a dark suit announced.

The project team of scientists, met with a high-ranking officer from the Foreign Intelligence Service, the SVR.

“Hmm, but he’s a long way from being of any use to us,” General Sokilov pointed out. Being given the role of overseeing this project, he was never convinced it would succeed. The first failed attempt had only served to confirm his fears. “The outcome of the girl named, Rosita, was a bitter disappointed to the project. Instead of killing her intended target, she killed herself. Are we any clearer why that happened?” he asked of the gathered scientists.

The scientists around the table shuffled uneasily. Rosita was the first live experiment of their project, and it had ended in a disaster. All the children had come to the project within the first year of their lives. Rosita was the first candidate, coming to them many years ago. When she reached 17 years old, they had attempted to put her out in the field. She was strategically placed into neighboring Ukraine. Close enough to keep her under regular surveillance, making it easier to track her. Recently, she had taken a visit with her adopted family, to Europe. This seemed the perfect opportunity to eliminate her first target. They had chosen an enemy of their country, who happened to be visiting France, where Rosita would be.

To begin with, the experiment was going to plan. It was easy enough to sublimely plant suggestions into Rosita's mind, while she slept. For a while, so they thought, the human microchip experiment was going to be successful. What the scientists had not accounted for, was the intervention of human emotions. Each day they had influenced Rosita, through the microchip. Luring her to position herself within the vicinity of her target. As a tourist, it was easy to draw her to certain areas of the city, without raising any suspicions. Nor had she been suspicious of the strange dreams she was having, with regards to learning how to use a gun, in her sleep. One day, Rosita found a gun under her pillow at the hotel. She wanted to tell someone, but whenever she tried to mention it she felt a sharp pain in the back of her head. It was then that she began to question her own behavior. No matter how much they tried to influence her via the microchip, she would not even pick up the gun, let alone shoot someone.

When she returned to the Ukraine with her family, she fell into a deep depression. The more they made suggestions, the deeper her depression became. In the end, worried for her wellbeing, her parents took her to a mental health clinic, in the hope of helping her. The project scientists infiltrated the clinic and sent one of their team to assess her.
